2. The Grand Concourse has the most Art Deco buildings in the country
Often called the “Park Avenue of the Bronx," the Grand Concourse was designed after the Champs Élysées in Paris, France. The art deco style exploded in the 1930s when a housing boom occurred along the Concourse.

The nickname "Boogie Down Bronx" comes from the name of an album by Man Parish that came out in the 1980s.

Woodlawn Cemetery is the final resting place for many household names, including Rowland H. Macy (founder of Macy’s department stores), James Cash Penney (founder of JC Penney department stores), legendary latin artist Celia Cruz, Frank Winfield Woolworth (founder of Woolworth department stores), composer Irving Berlin, author Herman Melville, jazz musicians Duke Ellington and Miles Davis. The cemetery also includes a memorial to the Titanic disaster in 1912.
